Friends of the Emmaus Public Library
LEARN MORE ABOUT THE FRIENDS!
The Friends of the Emmaus Public Library was founded in 1998 after a steering committee comprised of East Penn citizen-volunteers met periodically to lay the foundation for the new group. A charter was drawn up, and Julia Brooks was appointed president of the fledgling organization.
The Friends work to fulfill the goals in the Mission Statement through six established committees. They are Program, Development, Hospitality, Finance, Governmental Relations, and Special Projects. Committee members meet at various times during the month as agreed upon. The membership-at-large meets once a months.

WORDS ON WHEELS
The Words on Wheels program was launched in 1999 under the direction of the Program Committee of the Friends. Volunteers deliver books, large-print books, and audio books to house-bound residents who live within the library's service area. The service is provided free of charge. The volunteer visits with the client and discusses what materials are preferred, as well as any special areas of interest the client might have.
If you are a resident of a municipality served by the Emmaus Library and would like to apply for Words On Wheels (or if you know of someone who is house-bound and might like to apply), please call the library at 610-965-9284. Brochures containing an application for this service are available at the circulation desk.
ANNUAL USED BOOK SALE
The Friends sponsor a book sale for the public every April in conjunction with the East Penn School District's food provider and other community organizations. Books are accepted for the sale beginning in January. Please watch the newspapers for more information. You can stop at the library for information as well, or come to this website.
